Designer dresses
in Saskatoon

Grad here is closer to a wedding than a school dance, and the year swings sixty degrees between its two halves. Both facts decide what a dress has to do. Everything ships from our Calgary warehouse — no customs, no duty.

To Saskatoon and the surrounding towns

Orders are picked and packed by hand in Calgary — one province over, which is why the prairie route is one of our fastest. Each dress travels flat in tissue inside a rigid box, nothing crosses a border, and the tracking number reaches you by email the moment the parcel is handed over.

02 · Grad

Grad is a formal night

In Saskatchewan it is closer to a wedding than to a school dance: a hall or a hotel, a march with your name read out, families in the room, and photographs taken properly. People plan it from March and remember it for thirty years.

Step 01

Choose in March

The most-wanted styles run out of sizes first, and an early order leaves room to exchange if the fit is not right.

Step 02

Measure underbust for a corset style

Not bust. A boned bodice has almost no give and has to sit correctly vertically as well as close comfortably — see the corset sizing guide.

Step 03

Order three to five days before you need it

That is the delivery window after dispatch, and dispatch is Monday to Friday. A week in hand is comfortable; two days is not.

Step 04

Use Notify me if the size is gone

The email goes out the moment it is back, and that list is what we use to decide which sizes to restock first in spring.

02b · The range

Sixty degrees of range

From minus thirty-five in January to plus thirty in July. Almost nothing in a wardrobe works at both ends, and pretending otherwise is how people end up cold.

−35 °C · January+30 °C · July
The cold end

Velvet and heavy satin

Weight is warmth, and weight is also what comes out from under a parka uncreased. Long sleeves, dark hems, opaque tights that nobody comments on — see evening dresses.

The middle

Almost nothing

The gap is real. A dress bought for a July wedding will not carry a January gala, and the reverse is worse. Two dresses, not one compromise.

The warm end

Light crepe and print

Prairie summers are dry and bright. Lighter cloth, a shorter hem, and something over the shoulders for when the sun drops at ten — see midi dresses.

03 · The calendar

What Saskatoon dresses for

One fortnight in late spring carries more formal dressing than the rest of the year put together, then a short dense wedding season, then five months when the coat decides everything.

May — June

Grad

The biggest formal night of the year, and the one people plan from March. A hall or a hotel, a march past the families, and photographs that stay on the wall.

June — September

Weddings

Riverside venues in the city, halls and farms out in the towns. A short, dense season where half the guest list drives an hour to get there.

November — March

Winter formals

Galas, holiday parties and the long cold half. Velvet and heavy satin, and a dress that comes out from under a parka looking untouched.

05 · Fit

Getting the size right the first time

There is no fitting room here, so measurements do the work. It takes ten minutes and saves a return.

For corset and bustier styles the deciding measurement is underbust, not bust — a boned bodice has almost no give and has to sit correctly vertically as well.

Still unsure? Send your measurements and the dress you are considering to info@the-clipse.com — we answer with an honest recommendation, including when the answer is that neither size will work.

  1. Measure over bare skin or thin underwear, wearing the bra you plan to wear with the dress — a padded bra moves the bust measurement by several centimetres.
  2. Take four numbers: bust, underbust, waist and hips. Keep the tape level all the way round; the usual mistake is letting it ride up at the back.
  3. Match them to the size chart, which maps our sizes to US, UK and EU equivalents.
  4. Between two sizes, size up on anything structured. A seam can be taken in; fabric cannot be added.
06 · Questions

Frequently asked

How long does delivery to Saskatoon take?
Three to five business days by tracked courier after dispatch. Orders are processed Monday to Friday, so an order placed on Friday evening leaves on Monday.
Is there any duty or customs charge?
No. Orders ship from our Calgary warehouse and stay inside Canada, so nothing goes through customs and no brokerage fee applies.
How much is shipping?
Free on orders over $250, flat $21 below that. The exact amount is shown at checkout before you pay.
When should I order a grad dress?
March, if you can. Sizes on the most-wanted styles go first, and ordering early leaves room to exchange if the fit is not right. At a minimum, allow three to five business days for delivery plus a few days in hand before the date.
Do you deliver to Warman and Martensville?
Yes, on the same terms as the city — the same goes for Osler, Dalmeny and Rosthern.
What if my size is sold out?
Choose the size on the product page and use Notify me when available. You will get an email the moment it is back — we use that list to decide what to restock first, and grad sizes are the first thing we look at in spring.
