Orders are picked and packed by hand in our Calgary warehouse, usually the same day they come in. Each dress travels flat in tissue inside a rigid box, so the shoulders and the hem arrive the way they left, and the tracking number reaches you by email the moment the parcel is handed over.

Some fabrics survive this climate. Some don’t.
Mild, wet, and colder after dark than the afternoon suggests. It is the single thing that decides what a dress does here — and most labels write as if every city were dry.

A floor-length hem meets wet pavement on every walk from the car. A midi keeps the fabric clear of the ground and still reads formal.

The drop from afternoon to night is bigger than the forecast implies, especially near the water. Dress for nine o’clock, not for five.

June — September
A short wedding season
Stanley Park, the islands, Okanagan vineyards — the whole year’s weddings compressed into four dependable months. A midi that photographs outdoors and survives a ferry crossing to get there.
Year round
City evenings
Dressed-down by national standards, and unforgiving because of it. Silhouette carries the look here; embellishment reads as trying too hard.

The rainy half
Seven months of soft grey weather. Velvet, dense crepe, a sleeve and a hem that clears the pavement — and a dress dark enough that the walk in doesn’t show on it.

Getting the size right the first time
There is no fitting room here, so measurements do the work. It takes ten minutes and saves a return.
For corset and bustier styles the deciding measurement is underbust, not bust — a boned bodice has almost no give and has to sit correctly vertically as well.
Still unsure? Send your measurements and the dress you are considering to info@the-clipse.com — we answer with an honest recommendation, including when the answer is that neither size will work.
- Measure over bare skin or thin underwear, wearing the bra you plan to wear with the dress — a padded bra moves the bust measurement by several centimetres.
- Take four numbers: bust, underbust, waist and hips. Keep the tape level all the way round; the usual mistake is letting it ride up at the back.
- Match them to the size chart, which maps our sizes to US, UK and EU equivalents.
- Between two sizes, size up on anything structured. A seam can be taken in; fabric cannot be added.

Frequently asked
How long does delivery to Vancouver take?
Three to five business days by tracked courier after dispatch. Orders are processed Monday to Friday, so an order placed on Friday evening leaves on Monday.
Is there any duty or customs charge?
No. Orders ship from our Calgary warehouse and stay inside Canada, so nothing goes through customs and no brokerage fee applies — unlike the British and Australian labels most Vancouver shoppers end up comparing us with.
How much is shipping?
Free on orders over $250, flat $21 below that. The exact amount is shown at checkout before you pay.
Do you deliver to Surrey, Burnaby or Richmond?
Yes, on the same terms as the city — same timeframe, same free-over-$250 threshold. The same goes for Coquitlam, New Westminster, North Vancouver and West Vancouver.
What if it doesn’t fit?
Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery for a refund, or within 30 days for store credit. Items must be unworn, with tags attached and in original packaging. Email us with your order number and we reply with instructions — please don’t send anything back before that. Refunds reach the original payment method within 5–10 business days of the parcel arriving with us.
What if my size is sold out?
Choose the size on the product page and use Notify me when available. You’ll get an email the moment it is back — we use that list to decide what to restock first.
