Orders are picked and packed by hand in Calgary, usually the same day they arrive. Each dress travels flat in tissue inside a rigid box, so it arrives ready to wear rather than ready to press. The tracking number reaches you by email the moment the parcel is handed over, and nothing crosses a border on the way.

Faculty balls and charity galas from January. Floor length genuinely worn, velvet genuinely useful.
What a convocation dress has to do
- Sit flat under the gown. No structured shoulder, no puff sleeve, nothing the academic gown will bunch over.
- Survive a hood placed over it. The hood goes on in front of a thousand people and comes to rest on the shoulders — a delicate neckline is the wrong place for that moment.
- Not crease through an hour of sitting. Matte crepe and mid-weight blends recover; fine chiffon and thin satin do not.
- Work at dinner afterwards. The gown comes off at four o’clock and the dress does the rest of the day on its own — our graduation guide goes through it in full.

Two weeks in June carry more of the year’s dressing than any other fortnight, and the rest of it is split between the county in summer and a formal season that starts in January.

Weddings in the county
Barns, orchards, lakefront halls an hour out. Long outdoor evenings that cool off fast once the sun drops behind the fields.
November — March
Formals
Faculty balls, charity galas, the winter run of black tie. Floor length is genuinely worn here, and velvet is the safe answer to a February parking lot.

Getting the size right the first time
There is no fitting room here, so measurements do the work. It takes ten minutes and saves a return.
For corset and bustier styles the deciding measurement is underbust, not bust — a boned bodice has almost no give and has to sit correctly vertically as well.
Still unsure? Send your measurements and the dress you are considering to info@the-clipse.com — we answer with an honest recommendation, including when the answer is that neither size will work.
- Measure over bare skin or thin underwear, wearing the bra you plan to wear with the dress — a padded bra moves the bust measurement by several centimetres.
- Take four numbers: bust, underbust, waist and hips. Keep the tape level all the way round; the usual mistake is letting it ride up at the back.
- Match them to the size chart, which maps our sizes to US, UK and EU equivalents.
- Between two sizes, size up on anything structured. A seam can be taken in; fabric cannot be added.

How long does delivery to London take?
Three to five business days by tracked courier after dispatch. Orders are processed Monday to Friday, so an order placed on Friday evening leaves on Monday.
Is there any duty or customs charge?
No. Orders ship from our Calgary warehouse and stay inside Canada, so nothing goes through customs and no brokerage fee applies.
How much is shipping?
Free on orders over $250, flat $21 below that. The exact amount is shown at checkout before you pay.
Do you deliver to St. Thomas and Woodstock?
Yes, on the same terms as the city — the same goes for Byron, Masonville, Westmount and Strathroy.
What should I wear under an academic gown?
Something that sits flat at the shoulders, since the gown and the hood both rest there. Choose for the neckline and the hem below the knee — that is all anyone sees — and pick a fabric that survives an hour of sitting without creasing. A matte midi is the most reliable answer.
I need it for convocation in two weeks. Will it arrive?
Almost certainly, but order with a week in hand. Dispatch is Monday to Friday and delivery is three to five business days after that, so a fortnight is comfortable and a few days is not.
